Elizabeth Edwards, wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, estranged has been advised by doctors that "your cancer treatments would be unproductive," according to the Declaration of the Edwards family.
A source close to the family says CBS News, "She is dying". The source said Edwards likely die within weeks and possibly days.
Edwards, 61, posted to your personal page on Facebook a message to friends reading in part, "the days of our lives, for all of us are numbered. We know that. "
CBS News, confirmed that the Edwards family, including her husband John, now is gathered with Elizabeth Edwards at home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Edwards "everyone knows that I have been sustained throughout my life by three savings thanks-my family, my friends and faith in the power of resistance and hope," wrote the post from Facebook. "These graces that led me through difficult times and who brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined".
"... There are certainly times when we are not able to gather as much strength and patience as we would like, "she added. "Is called a human being. But I discovered that the simple act of living with hope and daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days that I have are made all the more significant and precious. Edwards was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2004, shortly before the presidential election in which her husband was the Democratic Vice Presidential candidate. In March 2007, at the start of the presidential campaign of John Edwards, she revealed that the condition had returned and spread to your bones and that she had been diagnosed as a Terminal.
The couple later became separated after revelations that John Edwards had engaged in an affair with a campaign videographer. Edwards wrote about cancer and her relationship with her husband in several memoirs, including the "Resilience last year".
